Folding Partition Knowledge Base
The bathroom in my master bedroom is totally open to the rest of the room. I am looking for a partition? partition screen to close it off. Ideally I would like something that mounts on the top part of the wall that would slide. I don't know if that makes any sense. I don't want to hang a curtain because I want light to be able to filter through. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? This is a rental so I don't want to spend too much on this. I worry that a folding screen would be too much of a pain to get in and out of everyday. thanks!
How do I install Ubuntu onto a partition I already made? I was following the instructions, and I made about 100 GB free for Ubuntu during the installation process. Long story short, I canceled installation during the partition making, and now I have 130 GB for Windows, and 100 GB 'unallocated'. I guess my question is two-fold: Can I install Linux onto the 100 GB partition, and how? Also, if that is not possible, how do I remove the partition so I can just let the Ubuntu installation do it for me? Much thanks!
Will I be able to play PS3 games after installing Linux? I am thinking about installing Linux (Yellowdog) on my PS3, but I want to know a few things: 1) Is there a way to make the PS3 Boot into XMB (I think thats what its called, when you turn on the PS3 and can choose between Photos, Video, Music, Game etc) everytime I turn the PS3 on? 2) Is there any downside to installing Linux? other than the fact I have to dedicate space to Linux (Therefore lowering my space)? more importantly, will I stil be able to play PS3 games perfectly normal? as I want the linux only for running a few applications not possible in PS3 normally. 3) Is it possible to partition the drive before installing the Linux, so that I dont have to back-up my music and videos? I have over 20GB of video's on my PS3 and thats a fair bit of backing up to do. 4) Will Linux open like Folding@Home? where I just go to the application, push X and then it loads into it? and then I can exit it again and return to XMB? Thanks in advance!
What's on the second HDD in my HP DV9009nr? Is there any hope for ever using laptop again? The Saga: --needed to replace keyboard (missing keys) --crashed "C" drive (i wacked the spot directly over the C" drive with the end of a USB repeater cable that was giving me trouble and the display went to something like an error screen; though i thought it was black and white, not blue.. --bought replacement drive --replaced keyboard --replaced fujitsu 80GB HDD with WD 80GB HDD (new, unformatted) --put in batt, plugged in AC.. turned on comp.. all lights come on.. nothing on display.. no prompts/beeps.. even with XP installation disc in DVD drive. I went to take things apart and see if i could see something i'd done wrong when i noticed there's another drive. I didn't think the second drive was a physical drive but a partition on the "C" so now I'm hoping that there might somehow be data i can have pulled from the second drive? I purchased an almost identical HP (dv9335) which arrives in the morning. Three questions if you please: 1. Any simple-ish ideas why it's just sitting there when i power up? Fried the MB somehow? 2. Does anyone know what data is stored on this second drive by default config? I'm pretty sure my actual doc&set fold was on the C drive.. any chance i can still salvage saved word docs, jpegs, and mp3's that i normally found in docs and sets fold on C drive...? and 3. can i just take this second drive and switch it with the second drive on the dv9335 and read files on it? If the backed up data is on sys restore or some similar prog, do you think info is avail online for retrieving the files i spoke of? or is the second drive going to a data recovery shop...? Thanks very much for any assistance any comp techs/'people in the know' can offer..:) w There are no jumper on orig. hdd, the WD has 4 prongs, but there's no jumper so i'm assuming it's auto det. I had set laptop to boot from cd before C drive, but it's a no go. There's a pre-existing issue with this dv9009 which i've read about others having where the laptop powers up but never initializes, rebbots in 20-30 seconds repeatedly. It had been doing that before 'the saga' began. I could often get it to spring to life through a combination of plugging/unplugging in power, plugging in USB mouse immediately after power on and drumming fingers on mouse touchpad (I'd know it was going to work when the red laser fired up in the USB optical mouse). So I tried that. And I actually got the HP logo then the screen changed and I read the words "Starting up windows"when they appeared at the bottom of the screen, then it went blank. I think i may have a cracked motherboard or other intermittent problem which will make troubleshooting 2 complex. Thanx 2 all for advice!!
Windows Recovery Help? I bought this pc from a gentlemen and it was in great condition running on win xp media center edition sp3. However over time its picked up a few things and junk and I would like to take her back to brand new w/o losing everything. I understand I can reload the OS however the man i bought it from created a partition and loaded the recovery discs on it (from what i understood) I have a fold in my pc labeled recovery that is 2+ gigs. Im not sure what to do with it tho. I do recall tho seeing on an older pc something in the boot stages that said Start windows normally or windows recovery/restore. Ive used that before on an older machine and it restored most of it w/o the manufacturer discs... I would like to do the same considering i don't have the discs. I know my question is kinda broad and missing some aspects and details but i dont have much more to say with out any specific questions from anyone who can help. so if anyone can help me use the built in recovery from boot or figure out if the guy did in fact load the manufacturer discs on here how do i start to recovery from the drive. plz email back at jaw1987cchs@hotmail.com emails load right to my storm so i can reply right away or via windows live chat using the same email. thanks alot for any consideration... looking forward to hearing from ya ;) J.WEST f10 is just the boot menu. nothing there of help that i can see...
What do you think about this?? easy10 points? i wrote it Learning To Reply Destiny loves the quiet listener, but now, Unfortunate and stilled, his eyes are petrified I doubt the shades of reality, I look beyond, The clouded horizon above fragile leaves And color strikes me as benevolent as it gets This image, a short burst of illusion in euphoria And apathy in his eyes, empathy in his mind The continental divide of sorrow, now combusted Apprehension submerged and reflected as emotion And yet comprehension seems so rare, Coming closer to debate men and the vivid imagery of tomorrow Rekindles the spark of the short life of immortality As our imagination swings endlessly amongst hinges Dead, fixed on the wall, they only alternate in color As they did before, many are amused to their awakening And it crumbles and stumbles but they were always dead Coming closer to seasonal fantasy and oblivious glory Intertwined with legions of deception built trough dogma Captivating its potential, and contours adhere to its conformation And blossomed with eloquence and partition, subjects and division But still it might be regurgitated by the few, to uncover identities When the flesh read the book, conspiracy was summoned Procreating fortresses of opposition on virtual pavements And self conflicting contradictory evidence, for the weak minded Who search for a leader, expecting miracles on wet roads? Failing to assimilate the adjective with the noun, a primate for a leader How much should we expect from his limited pretentious mind? We cultivate ideas and learn trough observation and instinctive mistakes Deriving the past from presenting adjacent folds of intervention, Interpreting and documenting the misrepresented conflict of existence And bearing that book, we impose our ideals on higher intellectuals i am an abstract poet who bases heavily on the thought component ,so if an idea is contingent and must be expressed as a whole i keep on writing rather than splitting up the poem and reducing the intellectual validity simply to have a constant structure, hope i answered your question in a respectful manner Listen FATE its very amusing and quite frankly astounding to see an unveiling of hatred towards my work.If you don't like it than is OK. However if you think this is just a scrambled, unidirectional, pointless poem in your own perception you are undoubted right, why ? because your stupid mind you not ignorant. "Coming closer to debate men and the vivid imagery of tomorrow" describes EXACTLY YOU that men debate pointlessly ego-talk and that vivid tomorrow is an irony that signifies no hope for change secondly "Rekindles the spark of the short life of immortality" since man are accustomed to think of change as a permanent change i.e in this case i will no longer argue pointlessly it shows that this "immortality" as an attribute of determination is very short live we do not keep up to our words after slowly explain this to your brain, i will explain it all to you as you desire just let me know mate :P if you read something in Chinese which you don't understand it ism mumbling rite?
problem with my screen during bios only flickering...? I am trying to format my g/f's pc but the monitor (which happens to be in great condition and give a high quality picture) during bios it starts kind of loosing stability, continously trying to calibrate & what I see are just fast moving lines.. this happens till windows log on then it's ok. I cannot format it this way. I'd like to format it in the system itself rather than taking h/d on another pc. I managed to make it boot though cd as primary by looking boot screen pics on google & pressing arrow keys 'blind folded' but although it worked cos the drive started reading I gave up when I got to know that I wouldn't be bale to see in deleting the partition and re-doing it again.. any help guys? Can I still do that with the ultimate cd if the only partition existing is the partition I'm running my OS from. she's only got the C: partition from where the pc is running from. Can I still delete that partition while using the windows with the ultimate cd?
