Creating a new partition on portable hard disk?

I have a brand new western digital passport 160gb portable hard disk that doesn't recognise in My Computer. It does however appear in My Computer>Manage>Device Manager>Hard Disks. It appears as WD160gb External USB Device. I know that the problem is that it needs a partition to be created so windows can read it. But when you right click the drive and go to properties, their is no option to create a partition. thanks for the help

1. You should format ur hard disk frist then u can make new partitoin only its way for make new partitoin ok bye
