Is it possible to install Windows XP on a portable HDD (Mac)?

Hey, I've had XP running on my partition on my Mac for a while, and I'm running out of room (3GB). Is it possible to install Windows XP on a Portable HDD so that when I start up my Mac, I can choose which HDD to start up from? (Like normal)
