hard drive partition?

i bought a hard drive replacement kit. my orginal hardrive came with 2 partitions 1 for regular storage and the other for system restore. the kit allows you to use your old hardrive as a portable. i was wondering if there was a way to get rid of partition on old drive. so it was one drive not 2

1. If you plan to erase everything on your old hardrive you certainly can make it only one partition.
2. if you are using a microsoft operating system change your basic disk to a dynamic disk and spann your volume over both hard drives and it will basically be like 1 partition on 2 hard drives.
3. Use a program called Partition Magic. This will allow you to erase the second partition and then allows you to increase the first partition to use all the available space. If you have any files on the second partition you want to keep if space permitted copy them to the first partition if not copy them to your second hard drive.
