- If you do't own the place you sure do!
- you might since your addibg another bedroom onto your home.i would call and ask just to make sure you don't need a permit or if you do need a permit.because then if you go to sell your home it will have an extra bedroom i think maybe not need permission though but just to be on the safe side i would ask.
- That depends on whether you rent or own. You may need a city building permit in some places, and you may need to check with a homeowner's association's bylaws if you are a member.
- no but you need to check the walls where the studs will attach make sure no pipes are there some people will puncture one and don't know till later long after damage has been done
- No offense, but "permission" sounds like the UK, or in a rental. In the US, most interior modifications, especially adding a dividing wall, do not need permits, or have to go through a code enforcement agency. What might apply is if you were adding electrical service to that wall, or had plumbing go through it's framework. In those cases certainly the added services should be as the originals, or any updated codes. Steven Wolf Just my two "sense"
- If you are in the UK, you may well need Building Regulations approval. Planning permission is not normally needed for internal alterations. If it is a listed building, listed building consent will be needed. The thing to watch is that you are not creating an 'inner room' which might affect means of escape in case of fire. Check with your local council.
- Most times you don't, but I am not sure of the building codes in your area. Usually as long as you are not changing the actual structure of your house you should be fine. Also it couldn't hurt to make a phone call just to make sure.
- I don't think it is necessary, which country?
