How to create a temporary wall/partition using fabric?

I have to create a temporary wall/partition at a party and I cannot do any drilling, hanging, stapling etc into the venue. So this has to be freestanding. I'm thinking of using PVC piping with fittings to create two poles on each side with one horizontal pole to connect them, and then drape some fabric over for the curtain "wall". My question is, what do you recommend to use as posts? Should I cement cinder blocks into the ends of the pipes? Or if you have ANY other way that would be helpful.

  1. our church has a partition made of thin wood frame like a narrow door. it is covered in fabric and then three were fastened together to stand freestanding.
  2. You could put a larger piece of pvc pipe cemented into the cinder block for the side pieces(poles)of pvc to slip into. That way you won't have a cinder block with a pvc pipe sticking out of it when transporting it.
  3. Can you screw cup hooks into the ceiling and hang the fabric from it in a sort of draped effect?
