Can I install the Microsoft Office upgrade version with a previous version on a different partition?

I have Windows XP and Vista on the same computer, but on different partitions. Office 97 is on the XP OS/drive but I can still use most of its functions from Vista somehow. Can I install the 2007 upgrade version on the Vista drive, or do I need the full version...or does the upgrade need to be in XP?

1. An upgrade needs to have the older version there. So you can install it on your XP drive but not the Vista drive. You should also check that you can use the upgrade to go from Office 97 to Office 2007. You may find it requires a later version eg Office 2003.
