Mobile Partitions

what do you call a workstation system where workers sit at long tables in rows?

The workers sit at a long table facing another long table of workers. There are rows and rows of these and there are no partitions. Macquarie Bank in Bond Street, Sydney, uses this system. Workers are squashed against each other in a noisy environment where they have no privacy. I'm wondering if this is a new trend in office layouts.

  1. Hell.
  2. I call it torture, I've been in that situation before.
  3. Bullpen. Having to sit in the Bullpen is supposed be incentive to get brokers to outperform so they can get their own office.
