I have a Macbook that is partitioned with windows. I am a musician and a writer and I got the Macbook specifically so that I could have all the programs I needed in one unit. It worked great for years up until couple weeks ago, I encountered a problem with my Mac side. After calling in for help, we discovered I will actually have to go to an Apple store to solve the problem. My Windows side, however, was working fine. I'm in the middle of writing a book and I was about to go online to look up a word definition when my Sprint Smart View mobile broadband card asked if I'd like to download updates. With great remorse I selected yes and when the system rebooted, my mouse and USB ports stopped working. My cursor is frozen in the middle of the screen. I tried a safe boot but it wouldn't work and then I tried to open with the last known good settings. It seems my comp doesn't know there's anything wrong. When I urned on the comp to the mac side, the mouse worked fine, it just won't log in to OSX. The problem with the Mac side is that its trying to download an update but it's stuck, so we'll actually have to connect it to another mac to erase that update timer. Problem is, the nearest Apple store is a couple hours away from me and I won't be able to get there for a little while. My question now, is how can I access the chapter that is stuck in my windows side without a working mouse? The rest, I have backed up on another computer as well as a gig stick. I am totally distraught over possibly losing my work. Thank you for any help.
